Confirms that Great Tone can come in small packages!
Here in the PNW's Jazz guitar community we have many fans of the Evans amplifiers...and for good reason. They are as sonically flexible as they are reliable, loud and powerful, plus the newest generation models are very light weight. Where solid state is the logical choice, the Evans RE200 is a great example.
The solid state Evans RE200, named after endorsee Ron Eschete, delivers solid bass response, punchy mids and clear upper string separation...even at significant volume levels. In fact, the louder one plays, the more this little combo seems to "open up."
With good reason, Evans' powerful solid state amps have a reputation for allowing the musician's instrument to "cut through" and to do so with distinct note definition. The RE200 solid state is yet another example of this trait.
Then too, the semi-open/semi-closed back cabinet design provides fullness in the low end while maintaining a sense of dimension and "air" in the mids and highs...characteristics often associated with vintage tube combo amps.
Evans dares to be different. The two instrument inputs, unique 4-band EQ section, expand switch and buff control in the preamp section provides for a degree of control over clean sound character not found in any other amplifier. From that dark Jazz box with flatwounds to funk on a bolt-on neck guitar, the Evans RE200 can carry the day.
No wonder many working professionals appreciate the RE200 solid state's combination of portability, reliability, and wide gammut of clean tones. When necessary, simply add an external speaker cabinet and you're ready for most any playing situation!
