The Schertler UNICO is a perfect amp to reproduce the sound of any treble cleff acoustic instrument. Every one of its components, from preamplifiers to the cabinet structure to each of the two loudspeakers has been designed for natural sound and accurate response. This difference translates as precision in the way the unique voice of your instrument gets reproduced.

Part of the reason behind Schertler's achievement in the UNICO is its bi-amped design. Two independent power amps with an active crossover system produce 200 Watts RMS [8-ohms] through a Schertler specific 8" woofer and a 1" dome tweeter @ 0.1% distortion. This results in a highly transparent and clear sound with velvety clear harmonics, plus a strong and well controlled low end down to 40Hz. Additionally, Schertler builds its power amps with bipolar transistors (no MOS-FET) and traditional toroidial power transformer for robust tone. Each power amp has its own limiter circuitry, providing secure speaker protection.

Three individual input channels with their own specific EQ section provide ample flexibility for a variety of amplification devices:

MIC IN: XLR balanced input for dynamic or condenser microphones
switchable 48v phantom power
4.7 Kohm

DYN IN: Combination 1/4-inch and  XLR input with 10v phantom power switch optimized for low impedance signals like Schertler's own DYN series contact microphones or other electrodynamic transducers. Also includes 10v switchable phantom power which allows the connection of electret condenser microphones such as the Schertler BLUESTiCK Marine System. Resonance control effective at 180Hz tunes the amount of "body acousticity" in the sound. 10Kohm.

STAT IN: a medium impedance input with sensitivity optimized for a wide variety of pickups. Schertler's "Warm" switch smooths out the "rasp" character of piezos or alternatively punches cleanliness into magnetic pick-ups. Additionally, 10v switchable phantom power allows the connection of the Schertler STAT-Series electrostatic transducers and BLUESTiCK Marine system pickups. 10Kohm.
